Want to know more about the characteristics of aluminium box profiles? Take a look at our quick and easy buyer’s guide to what they are and what they’re used for.
What is an aluminium box profile?
Also known as an aluminium box section, or an aluminium rectangular tube, a box profile is a hollow square or rectangular piece of metal that’s used to easily construct cubic structures.
They tend to be fairly lightweight and can be used for a number of purposes, including shop-fittings, door frames, window frames, stands and garden fruit enclosures. They can also be used to construct posts and fences.
Aluminium is 99% recyclable, making it an environmentally-friendly option.
What sizes are available?
We offer aluminium box profiles in range of dimensions. Sizes start at ½” x ½” and go up to 4” x 4”. Levels of wall thickness range from approx 1.6mm to 6.4mm.
The standard length of a rectangular tube is 5m but we can cut to your specific requirement using our Custom Cuts page.
What grades are available?
Our box profiles come in a 6000 series grade; also known as a magnesium and silicone grade, this is a commercially versatile option that can be heat-treated, as well as offering good resistance to corrosion.
If you have any other grade requirements please get in touch to discuss with our customer service team.
We don’t just stock aluminium box sections. We’re also suppliers of a range of other aluminium profiles, including rods and angles, as well as bespoke profiles that can be made to order. We only source from reputable mills to ensure the highest quality metal.
